My first African dance concert blowout in India

I'm convinced. God wants me to dance. Luckily, I agree with him.

This January -- 2009 -- I'm producing a night of West African dance at the Epicentre in Gurgaon, one hour outside Delhi, India.

The official date: Monday, January 5, @ 7:30 pm.

My program is a multimedia lecture, performance, and dance class that reveals the interconnectedness of traditional African and Indian dance and drum.

Through story and dialogue, my program also reveals the challenge of my contemporary attempts to unearth and speak through the dances of the past.

I'd be a fool not to see my show as an opportunity to launch a dance movement in India and to find sustainable ways of empowering African dance in communities hungry for its lessons.

I am ready. I am ready. I am ready. I am ready!!

Stay tuned, and if you're wondering about my photo, that's me breaking out in full motion at a outdoor restaurant in Rajastan where I ran into a boy drummer and his horn playing partner.
